Ohhh boy this stack of books has me feeling so springy! I made a quick trip to my favorite local bookstore a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of #quarantinelife and stress-bought a bunch of new books. My current stack has a couple of my impulse buys mixed in with some titles I’ve had on my to read list for a while now.
Don’t Overthink It by Anne Bogel - Have we talked about my chronic overthinking problem? I pre-ordered this book as soon as I heard about it on Anne’s “What Should I Read Next” Podcast and I can’t wait to dive into this self-help meets memoir meets workbook.
Eight Dates by John Gottman, PhD and Julie Schwartz Gottman, PhD - I’ve had this book on my shelf since it was published last year. With nowhere to go, there’s no better time for Jeff and I to schedule a few post-bedtime Date Nights In!
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - My best friend was appalled when she found out I’d never read Little Women and made me promise to move it to the top of my to-read list. I’m about 1/3 of the way through it and adore everything about the March girls.
Writers & Lovers by Lily King - This was an impulse buy based on a few positive reviews I saw on instagram and heard on podcasts. Based on the title and the pretty cover, I have high hopes for this one.
Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane - This has been on my to read list for some time now and the possibility of being quarantined in my house was just the push I needed to buy it for myself.
Here in Columbus, my favorite independent bookstore is still open for business. There are several ways to support your local bookstore and stay safe and healthy. You can order a gift card online or over the phone, pre-order books that are coming out later this year, order books from your indie bookstore to be shipped to you, or call ahead, pay over the phone and pick your books up at the curbside! Many independent bookstores are finding creative ways to keep us in books during this weird time, so check the website of your favorites and support local!
