Book

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne - This was our book club pick and it was exactly the literary snack I needed. I’ve been reading slowly lately, picking up one book, reading a few pages and moving on, leaving another sitting next to my bed half-read for weeks on end. It feels weird and I don’t love this rhythm I’m in because there are so many books I want to read!

The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi - I read this book really fast because it was so good, and now it’s on the little three tiered table next to my reading chair because I know I’ll be coming back to it. I’m already applying her principles to my daily life and seeing these practices bear fruit.

Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner - I love Erin’s voice. I love her slower, more soulful way of writing. Her words are both instructive and reflective and reading this book is like being on a long walk with a good friend.

Podcast

I’ve been loving The Lazy Genius and The Mom Hour lately. Both are newish to me and both have been a welcome way to shake up my podcast listening game.

Audiobook

I’ve honestly abandoned audiobooks lately. I think I’ll probably get back into listening to fiction and memoir after baby boy arrives, but for now I’m relishing in the act of sitting down with a book.

Her hair can go in a full ponytail now and when I put it up in the morning and look at her, it’s like I’m looking at a little girl. When she stands up in her crib in the morning in her footie pajamas and bed head, she’s still at least partially my sweet baby. But once she’s dressed for the day and her hair is out of her face, she’s all little girl. I’m really feeling struck by how fast the time is going.

Do you see what I’m talking about? She looks so grown up!

Little Luxury

I’m eating a bowl of Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chip ice cream almost every night after Lucy goes to bed. I don’t typically have much of a sweet tooth. I like a little dark chocolate here and there, but I don’t crave desserts and when it comes to snacks, I almost always choose savory over sweet. But when I’m pregnant, I definitely have more of a sweet tooth and instead of fighting it, I’m leaning into it.

moments

Jeff brought me the most gorgeous flowers on a random Thursday and it was such a lovely surprise.

We also celebrated 5 years since the day we met. I always get all sentimental about these milestones. I love to look back and think about what life was like then and how much has changed. Jeff isn’t as into that but he humors me.

quote

This gorgeous bouquet survived for almost 3 weeks on my kitchen table.

“I used to think the opposite of control was chaos. But it's not. The opposite of control is surrender.” - Erin Loechner

Purchase

Ummm, house stuff? I’m all in on bins and baskets right now.

recipe

With spring having officially made it’s arrival, I’m adding in some seasonal favorites like this. I toss some pasta with chicken, steamed asparagus, parmesan cheese and olive oil. It’s less a recipe, more assembling ingredients. When I was little, my grandparents lived in a country club community and we would sometimes have dinner at the club house. This was one of our favorite things on their menu. The original was always made with bow tie pasta, but you can use whatever you have on hand.

What I’m Writing

I reflected on productivity and motherhood on IG and was honored to have my post shared by Coffee + Crumbs.

I also wrote this piece for Grotto Network about how to talk about sex with your spouse, which is kind of hilarious because, well let’s just say I’m no expert on the subject.
