Audiobook

Like I said in January, I’m re-listening to some old favorites by Shauna Niequist and Kelly Corrigan.

lucyism

Let me tell you what is NOT my favorite. The word no. If I never hear the word no again it will be too soon even though I will hear it approximately 300 more times before the end of the day. The other day I asked Lucy “Are you going to have a little brother?” and she said “no.” Kid’s in for a real rude awakening come June.

Little Luxury

This is more “luxury” than “little” but here it is anyway. I have several hours of child care per week that I use to write, which is mostly unpaid work. I am not “earning my keep” with this work. I am doing it because I love it and only because I love it. This is a luxury of massive proportions.

moments

Watching Lucy run wild in the new house

Seeing all the design elements of the new house coming together and hearing Jeff say how much he likes it all. I made most of the selections with him in mind but without him present so they were largely a surprise for him.

song

I recently revisited an old playlist I made called “Heavy Crown” full of songs that gave me some extra swagger when I needed it a few years ago. Anyway, apparently “Killer Queen” by Queen does that for me.

quote

We took a couple hours away from the madness to go on an actual date. No, we’re not tired, why do you ask?

We took a couple hours away from the madness to go on an actual date. No, we’re not tired, why do you ask?

“Today I am sick with those desires, trying to channel the infernal patience of parenthood while a dozen stories ball up in my throat, unable to be written. I’m scared that it might be forever, that one obstacle after another will prevent me from making the work I need to make in order to stay sane. And yet now, relieved of my schoolroom duties for the day, I find that the ball of ideas has lodged itself in my gullet and will not emerge so that I can write them down.” Katherine May, Wintering

Purchase

I bought a bag full of tissue paper heart confetti and put it in all the Valentine’s Lucy made and I am not the least bit sorry.

recipe

I like to take a frozen pizza out and then make it better by adding extra toppings. Is that a recipe?
